Legal Question in Family Law in California

I've been separated for 2ys from a 25yr marriage. Husban became permanently disabled in 99 & this month began recieving his benifits. It's my understanding that SSI pays for the previous yrs he'd applied . If so I'm I entitled to half and can I also draw on his SSI . I have custody of our son.

There is an argument that this payment is income and would be community property. It is my understanding that after 10 years of marriage you would be entitled to collect under his social security benefits.
