Legal Question in Family Law in California

Just started the process of filing for custody and child support for my 2 year old. My ex is an alcoholic and is not in the right state of mind. I honestly do not trust him and he has terrible mood swings. He only wants to see our son when it is convenient for him. Is it ok for me to keep my son away from his father until our court date?

A more prudent arrangement until court would be to set up supervised visitation. If you have a current court order, that order must be followed until modified by a judge.
