Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can the state of Ca. garnish my wages in Mi. for 15 years ago when my exwife was

Fifteen years ago after my divorice my exwife went on welfare. The state of Ca. has garnished my wages of 50%. for the two years she was on welfare. They want me to pay 40,000.00. Is there a satute of limitations? She contacted them cause child surport has been to her in full in the state of Hawaii and asked that they close the case.

There are a lot of issues in your case, such as the length of time that a Georgia judgment is viable, etc. You need a Georgia lawyer to answer these questions. You may have to take action in Georgia to set aside the judgment there.

My understanding is that you were being garnished by the State of California. You should get an attorney that practices in the county that is enforcing the order. The simple answer to your question is, yes it is possible. There may be some other issues and defenses and you should talk to a California attorney about those issues and defenses. Pat McCrary
