Legal Question in Family Law in California

By state law, how long does a father have to pay child support?

I have a divorce paper that state he has to pay child support until she's 18. But my daughter is still going to high school even though she recently turned 18. Can I legally request that the child support continues until she graduates high school or turns 19?

Re: Child support

By law, all support orders continue until the minor reaches the age of 18, unless the minor is still a FULLTIME high school student RESIDING WITH THE CUSTODIAL PARENT, in which case support continues until the child is 19 or graduates from HS, whichever occurs first.
