Legal Question in Family Law in California

can the state take my son?

Can the state take my son for not testifying or testiying what they want me to say? Can they use my son to threaten or scare me into co-operating with them?

Re: can the state take my son?

If custody of your son is in jeopardy for any reason, seek an attorney's advice IMMEDIATELY. Your local bar association has a referral service, and they also have resources which are available for a sliding scale or for free. If this pertains to a criminal matter, you may also be entitled to a public defender if you don't have the money for an attorney. There's no way anyone on this list can answer your question with the information you've given, but the one thing that's clear is that you need legal help ASAP. Either you're being coerced into testimony or custody of your son is in jeopardy (or both) and both of these matters are best dealt with with your own attorney who can advise you based on the rest of the facts. Good luck.
