Legal Question in Family Law in California

states apart

my wife and i move to california where i am from with her daghter. My wifes ex husband gave us written permision to leave the state. now he is filing claims for sole custody and lying on these claims but it seems that we will still be required to fly back to michigan to deal with these falls claims. Do we have any choice but to fly back or is there any way we can get these court cases transferred to california since our life is here now

Re: states apart

So long as father lives in Michigan the court there has jurisdiction to make custody and visitation orders. Depending upon how long you have lived in California you may be able to get the Michigan court to defer to the California Courts.
