if someone steals something from you, can they use it in court against you?

Firstly, do you think this person is going to admit stealing something in Court to prove a point?

By the way be more specific when posting as for all I know you've selected the wrong area of law and are talking about criminal cases and "someone" is a cop which means there are constitutional rules in play.
