Legal Question in Family Law in California

My step child who is 15 is rarely attending school. She currently lives with her mom. She doesn't like to stay with us because we make her go to bed at a decent time and we encourage her to do homework. We also don't allow her to see her friends that have been expelled for drugs. She is currently failing. We have received letters from the DA, but she does not live with us. Is my husband liable for his ex-wife's actions?

He is responsible for getting his daughter to school. If mother is not controlling child, he may have obligation to seek custody to make sure she gets to school.
