Can I take away my step child visitations w/ her mother?

My usband and I have custody of my step daughter, her real mother only shows up for her visitaion one day out of the month, even though she "gets" every other weekend, from 9a.m.-6 p.m. She never tells us when she will or son't show up leaving us stuck at home unable to make plans. Her mother does not finacially support her in any way, can we force her to give up dates when she will or won't show up, or take visitaion away all togerther?

you can go to court and request that the visitation terms be modified.
