Step kids child custody

i am married and have 2 step kids and my husband has full cudsity what rights do i have as a step parent can i adopt them if the mother is not really around, what lleagl rights do i have to them ( if we do divorce for an example ) can i get to any thing to surecure my lleagl rights to them? all info in this area would be great thanks

You can have parental rights if you adopt. Otherwise the best you could do would be to be named as the guardian in his will.
