Legal Question in Family Law in California
step parent rights
I am engaged to be married in a few months and my fiance is in a custody battle with his ex girlfriend right now. She wants it put in the paperwork that I can not pick up or drop off his daughter at school where I also have 2 daughters that attend. Once we get married does my rights as a step parent change? right now the court and the mother only view me as a girlfriend/fiance. Does being his wife make a difference?

It is quite normal for a spouse to be involved in the pickup and dropoff of a stepchild. The court order should allow you or the father to pickup the child from school etc.

Does he have an attorney? The attorney should deal with this for him and you. Step parent should be able to pick up and drop off child.
