My Step-dad with MS...His life falling apart...His wife (my mom) not helping...o
My Step-Dad since I was 3 (I'm now 30) has chronic-progressive MS. He has slowly been getting worse and I help him with things like paying bills, etc. because his vision and memory are so bad. My mom (still his wife) has basically removed herself from the situation and doesn't want anything to do with any of it. Since he never adopted me and he never had anymore kids after marrying my mom, I'm pretty much it as far as dealing with his business. It's all messed up (hasn't filed taxes in years, no homeowner's insurance and he smokes in bed, forgotten investments of thousands, ruined cars piled in the drive, etc.) He is also not very convinced that he even needs help!(part of his illness) What can I do as an un-adopted step-daughter (therefore not really a relative) and he's still married to my mom who is unwilling to help? Please help!

petition the court and see if they will appoint you conservator to manage his affairs.
