Legal Question in Family Law in California
My stepson will be 18 in October and has refused to move in with his father and I and is living with a friend of his. At this point, can we still be held liable for his actions What are our options?

Once a child turns 18 they are legally an adult, so I dont believe that you can force them to live with you. You shouldn't have any liability for his actions since he is an adult, however, you should check that you have not cosigned on any of his responsibilities or bills. Child support typically continues to be an obligation until the 18 year old graduates high school or turns 19 whichever is sooner.
For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.
As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
