Legal Question in Family Law in California

hi there. my name is steve my wife and i are looking at doing a private surrogacy. we have a friend that we've been talking to that's willing. our concerns are only what legal things or paperwork do we need to have prepared. We CANNOT afford legal counsel or going through the proper surrogacy channels. this would be basically me impregnating her and her giving up her parental rights to me and then my wife adopting the baby. if we were to have a notarized contract between all three of us would this be sufficient?

You need to consult with a competent family law attorney before doing this. It is a well established principle of family law that the parents cannot create nor negate parentage via a contract.

If you cannot afford to do it the legal way and going through proper legal channels, you should not be doing it at all.
