Legal Question in Family Law in California

Storage Fees and Community Assets

My husband and I are separated (California), but haven't filed for divorce yet. During the separation, most of our community property is in storage, for which I'm paying. Can he be ordered to reimburse me for half the storage fees, since it belongs to both of us until a property agreement is signed? He says he doesn't want any of the stuff in there, so he shouldn't have to pay storage. We also have debt to split, and he thinks all the debt should be mine, since I have all the stuff. But if he's not sharing the cost of storage, can he still claim the value of half the stuff, with regards to splitting the debt?

Paying for storage that benefits both of you would justify that husband refund 1/2 of that cost to you. The sooner you file for divorce the better it will be on clarifying how to divide your remaining property and debts.
