Legal Question in Family Law in California

Structured Settlement Annuity Protection and rights

I got paralyzed from a car accident in 1978. 8 years later met a women and married and later had two girls. I don't think i can even have children being a quad. we divorced and I got sucked in by these mean loan sharks and sold some of my anuity payments untill 2010. Stone street Capital gets $2600.00 of my annuity payments and my ex gets the remainder $800+ for child support. I get nothing to live on. I can't afford an attorney to go and fight. I divorced in 1995. She went in 1999 to ask for more child support. She wanted $1248.00 a month. I was with my girls out of town and missed the court date so she won the amount she asked for. But there is no more money in my annuity. They both have court orders. i get $0. So since i don't get my anuity payments back until 2010 they put me in the arrears for the other $400+ a month which I don't even have and now I owe over $30,000.00 in arrears. I didn't even have it. Can they do this. Do i have any protection? and I'll never be able to pay the arrears. I thought my struct settlement was untouchable since it happened before marriage and children.

Your structured settlement is not "untouchable" when it comes to past due child support, and missing two court appearances did not help your situation.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
