Legal Question in Family Law in California

My question is, does california have a Common Law ? My father is cohabiting with women he's been with over seven years and I was thinking of what would happen to his fincials.

There is no common law marriage in California, however, California will recognize a recognized marriage from another state. Regarding money, however, there is a recognized thing called "palimony" in California. And his partner may go after assetts under that theory.

California law does not have a common law marriage provision. However, California does recognize a common law marriage that occurs under the laws of another state.
