Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can I submit forms off the internet

I have acquired some legal forms off the internet for adoption. Can I submit for adoption without an attorney. The natural father has asked me to do this so he has given his consent to give up his rights.

Re: Can I submit forms off the internet

You may proceed with the adoption without an attorney. The process is technical, and must be strictly complied with. You will need to do more than copy forms off the internet.

Also all adoptions in California must be approved by the local department of social services. Once the child is relinquished for adoption by the parents, the department of social services takes control and may place the child where ever it determines serves the child's best interests. That may or may not be you.

You should obtain the assistance of a qualified attorney.
