Legal Question in Family Law in California
Submitting financial documents to my ex wife
I am self employed and my ex wife is disputing my income. I will need to supply all business docs for the last 4 years including financial statements, bank statements, cancelled checks, etc. I will be suppling copies of invoices, a/r aging's, customer lists, bank statements, etc. but to save time & expense I am not copying receipts and cancelled checks. I have been informed that my ex wife will be at her attorneys office when I drop these off and will be going thorugh my originals (receipts, cancelled checks) and making the copies herself to save attorney fees. Is this legal? My concern is that receipts & checks will disappear. I have been told by my attorney that there is nothing I can do. On the flip side she is turning her documents over to my attorney one week later and will wait for her information to be copied.

Make copies of everything before you hand over the originals.
Or, stay there while the copies are being made.
Re: Submitting financial documents to my ex wife
It is common practice to copy the documents and give the copies to the other side. This eliminates the problem of documents being lost while they are being copied. You can request that the other side pay the actual copy costs.
