Legal Question in Family Law in California

Substitution of attorney

My attorney wants me to sign a substitution of attorney because I question his billing and office competance. I have paid him over +$30K for my divorce and have not had a mandatory settlement hearing yet. What are my choices? I do not have another attorney and was thinking of representing myself but my wife has an attorney who is currently putting me through a deposition.

Re: Substitution of attorney

sign the substitution of attorney. the amount you paid for services rendered so far does is irrelevant to future services. if you are unhappy with your attorney, and it seems like you are, then hire another one. if you don't sign the substitution, then your attorney will probably file a motion to withdraw. it will be granted.

Re: Substitution of attorney

Sign the substitution of atty and move on. You will probably be happier anyway. I would not be advisable to go it alone. I would suggest contacting other lawyers in your area.
