Legal Question in Family Law in California

Suing and Hiding Assets

Someone I know wants to sue for back child support. The problem is that the father would hide his assets as soon as he heard of a lawsuit. Is there any way to prevent someone from moving money (out of the country) or transfering ownership of property (to friends/family) in such a situation?

I will add info if needed.

Thank you.

Re: Suing and Hiding Assets

If you have a child support order already, you don't need a judgment for back support, you already have one and can proceed without notice to attach his assets (California Law). If you don't have a judgment you cannot sue for back support. Support starts when you file a motion. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
