Legal Question in Family Law in California

Regarding a Summary Dissolution of Marriage in California, I understand all the requirements that must be met but have a question for the debt limitation, which states that the couple's debt obligations must be less than $5,000 not including car loans. Does this include all education loans as well?

Also, assuming a couple qualifies in all other respects, how long does the entire process (summary dissolution) take if the couple can come to an agreement easily on division of assets/liabilities and all other terms? And how does this time frame compare to a regular uncontested divorce?

Yes, the $5,000 limit includes educational loans as well.

As for how long it takes, after the Joint Petition is filed, the parties must wait six months before filing the Request for Judgment. The court could sign the Judgment in as little as a week, but most courts will usually take two or three months. So, a little more than six months to eight or nine months.
