Legal Question in Family Law in California

Support during divorce process

Hello, I am divorcing my wife and am not clear on what support I need to provide during the divorce. Presently I am providing the majority of what she needs (I pay the mortgage, utilities, food, medical, etc) even though she is employed. After the divorce I will have a pay $1000/month for 6 months in spousal support. According to the divorce papers, we will be considered separated, but physically we will not be - she will remain in the house until the divorce is final. Since we are considered separated, what am I legally responsible for in terms of support (aside from medical coverage) until everything is final? Can I stop paying for her food and miscellaneous items?

In a general sense you may be over paying support or under paying support. One would need to know more about your respective financial siatuations before an estimate of spousal support could be provided.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
