Legal Question in Family Law in California

support issue

If you are a--name removed--of a parent who has never paid support and you are an adult now can you go after him for the support owed and what are the statue of limitations?

Support can only be collected if there is a court order, and so far as I know only the person to whom the court orders it paid can collect.
