Legal Question in Family Law in California

Support?

If an order for support was entered in 1994 requiring support be paid until re-marrage or death - under the new Calif law can this order be modified as the law states now that payments shall be made for 1/2 the duration of the marraige (not until remarried or death)?

Thank you!

:)

Re: Support?

The presumption for a short term marriage (less than ten years) is half the length of the marriage. If your marriage was a long term marriage the presumption is indefinately, pending a change in circumstances. I would be happy to offer you a free consultation to see if there is a basis for modifying or terminating the current support order. Our fees are quite reasonable.
