Legal Question in Family Law in California

support question

I have been receiving child support just over $100 a month since my child was small. In the past 8years or so Ive also received social security payments from the fathers checks because of his disability. When this first started I called child support division to make sure this was ok. She told me yes because these are nothing to do with each other.Im now being questioned about this. My question to you is...Is it alright to be receiving both kinds of payments for my child or does it have to be one or the other. To my understanding I may lose child support now even though its been so long I would think that they would be aware of this for as long as Id been receiving it.

Re: support question

Child support is based on his income and your income. However, if he is receiving social security disability, then the child is entitled to disabilty payments that are separate from his disbility payments. You may lose future payments of the $100 per month, but should receive the disability payment.
