Legal Question in Family Law in California
supporting children still in school
If your parents choose not to help you anymore and you are still going to school, can anything be done so that they can give you a little support? oh and I am over 18.

The child support obligation stops at age 18 and out of high school. Unless the adult child is disabled, the parents do not have an obligation to support the adult child. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

Probably not. If, however, your parents are separated, one parent can be ordered to pay the other parent child support until you are out of high school and still 18. When this happened to me, I only had one month of school left. The janitor at the school let me stay in a study room until I graduated. You can also try friends and relatives and local gospel missions. Or you can drop out of school so you can work full time and either get your GED or go to night school.
