Legal Question in Family Law in California

Taking child to another state

my ex and i have never been to court for custody. we were not married he has never paid child support, and barley been in her life until i told him i will be moving. my job is moving to another state i make good money and would be able to take care of my child comfortably if i go with it. do i have to have legal papers saying i can take her out of state? will i get in trouble if i dont? please help

You should consult with an attorney regarding the move. Moving without either permission or an agreement can have some very adverse consequences.
