Legal Question in Family Law in California

Thanks for taking my question.

In 1980 I was divorced from an atty. in Ca. Part of the prop. settlement incl. an account that was equally divided between us and then frozen until my ex. reached 65 yrs. of age.

He is now 67, and refuses to provide me with the account number or name of the holding institution. My divorce lawyer does not return my calls. I was never provided with the information re account no. or financial inst. name.

There is a good amount of interest accumulated in my half of the original sum,

but I do not know how to proceed from here. I now live in the state of N.M.

Can you help me?

Thanks so much.

You need someone to check with the courthouse where the divorce was filed, and find out if a QDRO (Qualified Domestic Relations Order) was ever prepared and issued. There should be a copy in the file, and it should have the information of the third party that has the retirement account in their possession.
