Legal Question in Family Law in California

temp. guardianship of grandchildren

My daujghter is severleylost (intheis world of drugs, no job,no responsibility, no ambition towards making thigs better for herself and the children that we {the grandparents} have been raising since october 2008. Have had no help or support from her, l;ucky if children get phone calls. When they do see her, or talk to her, it is briefly. She seems to want to hurry the visit and it updets the children. We are left to try and explain the sitiutation to them, they are ages 7 and 6. We have tried to incurage our daughter to enter a rehab, goto college, which she was exciteda bout and enrolled in, although she did not follow through and blew it all off. We are thankful the children are with us, as they would be in the streets or who knows where. They are happy here and doing extremly wellin school, involved in sports, and activities, it is costly for us as i am on disability my fience is not working at this time due to medical problems, and we don't get much help. We dont know who or what to turn to for assistance, i have tried social services no luck gthere however, they do get medical help. Any info that u have or resources you can recomend would be greatly appreaciated. Thank you and god bless.

I don't know about public benefits, but I might just suggest you say nothing about the father, is he known, has support been pursued -- the Dept of Child Support Services will do that at no cost to you you know: childsupport.co.la.ca.us/
