Legal Question in Family Law in California

Temporary order

How long does a temporary order for child support remain valid? A friend's husband left the date off the uncontested divorce papers so technically she is not divorced she finds. However, a temporary child support order was granted but now that she finds the divorce was not granted she doesn't know if the support order is in effect. What can she do?

Reply: Temporary order

A temporary support order remains in effect until it is modified.

For a specific opinion regarding your friend's individual circumstances, I suggest that your friend consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

Re: Temporary order

Assuming no language to the contrary in the order itself, the temporary order remains in effect until it is changed, either through another temp. order or a final order at the end of the case. Presumably, your friend's order is in effect.
