Legal Question in Family Law in California

Termination of wage assignment at emancipation

I wage assignment has been ordered upon my employer for the deduction from my paycheck. When my child reaches the age of 18 and has graduated from high school, can I stop the wage assignment if I provide proper documentation of my daughters age to my employer? Is there a chance that I could be ordered to continue to pay child support even after my child has graduated from high school and is 18 years old?

Re: Termination of wage assignment at emancipation

No, assuming it is the usual coirt orders re these things. You will need to get the Order terminated, necessitating a trip to Court.

Very unlikely, unless there are special needs.

The above answers are generic since you provided no detail re the underlying order (ie.Judgment) upon which the wage assignment was based.
