Legal Question in Family Law in California
This is Terrie and you asked me a question through Law Guru regarding arbitration. I haven't agreed but my ex hasn't paid me this month but besides that the whole thing is strange. I hired an attorney but last Friday we went to the office of the arbitrator judge but only the attorney's spoke with him. I was surprised when my lawyer told me that "We" have an offer instead of they but maybe I've read too many mysteries. I was also told that I wouldn't be meeting with the judge. My ex is very successful and has many friends. I don't trust my attorney and not sure what to do.

If you do not trust your attorney you must talk to them as to what happened, what you do not understand, what you do not trust them about. With so little in facts, none of us can say whether your attorney did a good job or not. Most attorneys try to do the best for their clients that they can. I can not tell if you mean that the other side made an offer to you or your attorney made an offer to the other side.

I suggest you contact Mr. McCormick, especially if he is near your location. I've never heard of a family law spousal support order being heard by an arbitrator.
