You should always call around to several places to ask about rates and retainers. You can also ask your friends and family for reccomendations on who they used. Every experience is different, but a typical attorney would charge anywhere from 150 - 300 / hr and the retainer can be 1000 to 5000 to start a case. Ask around and don't be afraid to ask for a discount.
