Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm thinking about moving out of state and i am divorced and I use to have full legal and physical custody of my 3 children but now its joint custody. Do I have to have a job in the state i want to move into in order for the judge to let me move. What if the father fights me. What can I do right now i'm not working and I am a student in college. I am 32 years old but the father is working. The kids are with me the majority of the time and they go to him alternate thursdays thru monday, so every other week they go with him thur- monday.

You do not need a job, but you need some reasonably compelling reason you need to move out of state, unless you want to give up custody.
