am i titled to half of his retirement?

married 03/07/75

four children

separated 11/92

i have never signed divorce papers so i dont really know if we are legally divorced

he has since retired from the state of california

i would like to know if i am entitled to half of his retirement

several people have told me that i am entitled to half of his retirement

i need legal advice but i cant afford an attorney
