If you are self represented, you need to do as much research as possible on being your own attorney. Go to the local law library and check out as many books as possible on do it yourself divorce. Additionally, it may be helpful for you to consult with a local attorney on a limited scope basis to get information on local rules and procedures. There is a lot to do, but if you are properly prepared you can ensure yourself a fair trial.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
