Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hi, I have a tricky one for you... My husband and I may get divorced soon, and I have money in a bank on my name. This money was transferred to me by my father from overseas for medical needs. When he did the transfers he did mention "medical needs" as a reason. Is this enough to protect this money from being divided? Or should I try to transfer it to my other relatives before the divorce if filed?

Not tricky at all. It was a gift. Gifts during marriage are separate property as long as they aren't comingled with a joint account. The purpose of the gift is irrelevant.
