Legal Question in Family Law in California

Uncle taking minor nephew out of state on vacation

We are taking our 13 year old nephew with us on vacation this year. We're traveling from California to Colorado and stopping in Nevada and Utah on the way. What type of permission/authorization, if any, do we need from my sister for this trip?

I'm not aware of any requirement, but a power of attorney to make medical decisions would be wise.
