Legal Question in Family Law in California

Unmarried parent's visitation rights if other is sole provider

I know that a father has the same legal rights to child custody whether married or unmarried. My question is if the mother has been providing financially and everything else, is the father still entitled to visitation? If so is there a percentage or minimum requirement? This is also an infant child who is still breastfeeding and I think it is too soon to have shared custody at this point in time.

If father wants visitation he should also pay for the support of the child. With a young child, the court usually provides for short but frequent visits. There is no minimum amount of visitation. Certainly he should not have shared custody. In addition to child support he should pay 1/2 of the child care costs incurred in the scope of your employment, and/or education. He is also responsible for his sahre of the childs medical expenses, and for providing medical insurance.
