Legal Question in Family Law in California

Unpaid Child Support vs. Property Lean

My parents divorced when I was 1 year old and no real child support was paid to my mother. My father's mom owned a home with her first husband. He died and she remarried. The property was never moved into the second husbands name. When she died, both homeowners were technically deceased and the second husband was still living in the home. My mother put a lean on the property, in hopes of using this to get the unpaid child support. I am now 24 years old and have just found my father is deceased as of 2 years ago. If there is still a lean on this property, and my grandmothers 2nd husband is still living there with no real right to the property, do I have any entitlement to these unpaid monies through this property lean?

It sounds like you will need the assistance of a family law attorney and a probate attorney. My impression is that your Mother, or her estate, continue to have the lien on the real property, but it will take some work to unravel. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
