unsure
What does it mean to file points and authorities in a family law case. How is it used? And for what purpose?
Thank you.

Re: unsure
Points and Authorities is a discussion of the facts, as alleged by the party, and a discussion of the law as they are applied to those facts. No two cases are alike factually and the judge cannot be expected to know all of the nuances of the law. Parties prepare points and authorities in order to make an argument on how the judge should apply the law to the facts of the case. It is unlikely that someone without legal training could put together effective points and authorities for a judge. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
