Legal Question in Family Law in California

Unwanted Daughter

My sister is 17 and was sent away to a troubled teen boarding school for no apparent reason which is confirmed by those who she was in the care of at the school. Now that she is back my parents are not allowing her to return to their home so she will be living with me from now on. My mother is pressuring her to give information on where we now reside but neither I and my sister want to divulge this information to our parents due to their past behavior. My mother is threating that since my sister is under 18 she can legally obtain our address and other information. Is this true? And if so, is there any way to prevent this since my sister is not even allowed in their home?

Re: Unwanted Daughter

Your sister should obtain a job and then file a petition for emancipation. That will free her from parental control. It appears that the parents are not presently providing any support therefore there will not be a loss of financial support.
