Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am a usa citizen and getting a divorce with my husband. We have property and bank accounts in Mexico. Is a divorce court order in usa enforceable in Mexico or should we file two different divorces? What is your recommendation to have 50/50 in Mexico?

If you and your husband both currently reside in California, you definitely only need to file in California. The California courts can order both of you to do or not do things about the property and accounts in Mexico, and if those orders are violated the California court can hold either of you in contempt. If your husband has fled to Mexico, you still have the right to file in California, but getting the California orders enforced in Mexico gets a little more complicated. There are enough divorces that involve California and Mexico assets, however, that there is plenty of standard procedure to get California orders enforced in Mexico. It just is more complicated.
