Legal Question in Family Law in California

While on vacaction my 3yr old daughter was taken from her mother (mother and I are no longer together) and placed in a foster home. I was contacted by children services that she was being placed there, i asked if i needed to come home they said nom that when i returned to call them. I returned and since then i was informed to show up to court hearing july 16th to find out about my daughter coming home with me. I am a non offending parent that was not informed of any case against the mother and feel my parental and civil rights have been violated. What can i do to bring my daughter home?

The first thing you should do is get a lawyer who regularly practices in the dependency court that your child's matter will be heard in.

I agree with Mr. Shapiro. Removal of children from a parent always involves a dependency court proceeding. Usually, the dependency court appoints an attorney from one of their panels to represent each of the parents. In my experience, however, those attorneys are not very client friendly, and handle many cases at a time for a set rate that is paid by the county. If you can afford it, you may want an attorney who specializes in dependency proceedings.
