Legal Question in Family Law in California

Vacationing with minors not of your own.

Hello,

I'm planning on taking a vacation for 5 days from Boise, ID (home) to San Francisco in June. My question is that I would like to take my friend's daughter with us. She is 7 years old. I have parental permission to do so (parents will not be accompaning me, but my friend is going along as well. He is of no relation as well). I was wondering if this was possible, or is there some law prohibiting me to do so. I will be traveling by car through the states of Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and then onto California. Thanks for any information on this. I'm not sure what law dictates in this situation.

Re: Vacationing with minors not of your own.

You should be okay. However, if the child is injured in any

way, you might need a guardianship which can be done in a specific

power of attorney for guardianship. Altho technically not legal, at least

in Idaho, hospitals, doctors, schools, etc. usually love the things.

This would allow you to get the child cared for by hospitals, drs,

etc. should the need arise

The power of attorney should terminate at the conclusion of your

trip or within two weeks so that the parents don't fees they

are giving away their child.
