Legal Question in Family Law in California

Validity of Bermudan Law Marriage Certificates

My fiancee' and I are planning to get married on a Princess Cruises Cruise ship. They stated that the marriage will be performed on international waters, and is recognized under that law of Bermuda as a valid marriage. What do we need to do to make sure that this marriage is valid here in the United States, and the state of California?

California will recognize any marriage that was valid in the jurisdiction in which it occured, generally. Exceptions would be if the marriage was against public policy, such as gay marriages.

So you simply need to be sure that your cruise ship marriage is valid for ships on international waters. I'm sure the line has ample experience in this regard.
