Legal Question in Family Law in California
I have a very verbal abusive husband. We have a 2 1/2 child and I am pregnant with our second child. I am a stay home mom, he is a doctor. He takes prescription meds that he himself prescribe to family members, but he keeps it for him. He has told me to leave the house enumerous time. I have no income and no family here in the US. I am seeking an attorney to start the process of divorce. What can I do before I file, so he doesn't abuse me more with emotional bathering?

Above all, watch out for your safety and the safety of your child. If you feel threatened, physically, leave, immediately.
As for your legal alternatives, you can simply retain an attorney and begin the process of marital dissolution. A family law attorney can take your case and get an order from the court for your husband to pay you support and pay for your attorney.
If you and your husband have joint bank accounts or credit cards, you are entitled to use the money and credit to find a new place to live, support your child, and hire an attorney.
