Legal Question in Family Law in California
Visitation denied by x-spouse
Rather complicated, but my wife was discovered to have been committing adultry with multiple partners for the 8 years of marriage. We lived in Ukiah, CA. When caught, she ran away with son, age 3, for one year. When brought back, court awarded her primary custodian, with shared custody, and child support from me. The scandal she caused, caused me to loose my job and career. She moved to Washington state, and years later I ended up in Texas for a job. She made seeing my son so difficult, I only had him a week or two a year from age 4-6. After that, she has refused to let him visit, though I will pay all expenses. He is 15 now, and has been so brainwashed against me, that he is cordial over the phone but has no desire to see me. I could not afford to go to court to do anything about it because of loosing my career and had to keep paying her support while out of work for 2 years. Do I have to keep paying support when I am not allowed my parental rights to be a part of my son's life?
Please pardon the length of this.

Re: Visitation denied by x-spouse
Unfortunately, child support and visitation are distinct and separate concepts in a decree of divorce. In essence, we do not pay child support for the right? privilege? opportunity? to see our children. Very sorry for your situation.
