Legal Question in Family Law in California

visitation rights withdrawn

A divorced father has lost visitation rights with his child due to DUI's. The Superior Court judge has ordered the father ''to complete a 12-step program'' before petioning to see his child again. The father does not have a lawyer, and no one we contact (A.A., DMV, etc.) have been able to tell us exactly what completing a program means. He knows he has to complete the SB-38 program to receive his driver's license, but for visitation, how many days/meetings/couseling sessions or whatever does 'complete' mean, and how would he prove to the judge he has 'completed' it? Thank you for your help.

Re: visitation rights withdrawn

That would depend upon the court order. If the order does not state what program he is to complete, after he completes the SB-38 program he should ask for visitation.
